Ferryfast News Letter

Fruit 

We have some very good Armagh PGI status Bramley Apples, and fresh Blue Whale French Pink Lady, Braeburn, royal gala, red delicious, golden delicious and Granny Smith apples. Dutch Conference pears, new season Argentinian Williams Pears.  Spanish strawberries are still very nice, Dutch Redcurrants are available, Spanish Raspberries are as tasty as ever.  We also have Mexican Blackberries and Spanish blueberries. There are Spanish, standard class and Huskey premium lemons available. Moroccan Nadorcotts, Turkish Ruby Grapefruit, and Oranges available in all sizes. Medjoul Dates and South African Plums on stock.  Fyffes Bananas are available. Pineapples, Kiwi fruit, Wye Valley rhubarb available. Red & Green Grapes. Southern Hemisphere Galia, Cantaloupe melons, Honeydew and Water all available.

Vegetables

Cornish Jazzy Potato’s still coming thru really nice. Jersey Royals are now on the scene with Cornish New Pots also now with us, Looking fantastic ! English Cauliflower is well priced whilst Calabrese from the Continent is becoming better priced. English Purple sprouting is in good supply and an excellent alternative. Good supply of Bagged carrots, Chantanay and Mixed Chantanay coming thru with steady pricing. Portuguese Savoy is now with us ,nice good large leafy heads, whilst Hispi prices rising due to lack of supply. Spanish Onions are  now moving in to Cold store product with firm prices, English Ware onions remain very difficult. Beautiful Red and Green kale from the farm.

Exotics

We have started stocking some stunning large globe artichoke, along with Jerusalem red & white. Birds eye chillies are available once again in smaller quantities, Baby rainbow carrots from South Africa have also tightened up. Other new lines to our exotic department include smoked and black garlic. With Egypt and Guatemala finishing, sugar snaps and mange tout have gone very short and prices have increased. Our continued availability on all types of Wye Valley asparagus is proving popular!
 
Salads

Spanish round tomatoes are available with a great flavor, Plum tomatoes are delicious, but prices are still quite strong. Spanish cucumber represents excellent quality and value at present. Iceberg, Lollo Rosso, Biando and Oakleaf are all Spanish and  looking fantastic. Spanish and English heritage tomatoes are looking amazing with more English tomatoes available later this month, cherry tomato punnets are absolutely brilliant at present,
 

From The Farm

Fruit
We have had terrible weather over the last 2 weeks very cold winds and frosts lets hope the Plum blossom hasn’t been to affected we will report over the next weeks apple blossom will start to appear in the next few days looking forward to better setting weather

Veg
Crops all looking good still very cold here and holding back spring planted crops we do have a lot of PSB this week please push sales also we have hispi and Spring green starting this week also we have new season Black cabbage

Indoor
We have had to delay chilli planting due to the cold nights hopefully we can start planting this week  we have a good selection of Radish we are drilling this week French Breakfast and Rainbow Radish 5 variety mix we will update you when we have availability

Mushrooms

Good Supply of Livesey Product available including Woodland Mixed Mushrooms, Promix, Eryingi Mushroom, Shitake and the mixed loose all sorts tray. We now have better availability of P/P & Loose Oyster.
Polish and Irish mushroom (Cups, Button and Flats) looking good across the board. We are getting a good supply from our growers with prices remaining stable at the moment. Should you wish to implement a program for mushroom going forward then please contact your Account Handler to discuss further
